About
I’m Arwen, and this is a home for my science fiction and fantasy writings, including creative original works, scholarship, and a proud link to fan works. I believe in it all.
My science fiction tends be what I call “dark utopia”: an examination of where utopia breaks down, conflicts erupt, or basic decency and stability are not enough to evade times of fracture and horror. And yet, the utopian aspiration isn’t dead. This is a space of harm reduction, where a floor remains beneath which we won’t fall and hope of recovery and reconciliation persists.
If you like troubled characters, grappling with guilt, in deep relationship with each other, you’ve come to the right place. If you like ecological themes and interconnectedness, you’ve come to the right place. If you like stories that engage with the complex messiness of life from a variety of viewpoints, you’ve come to the right place. Have fun exploring.
